Today at 7.10am, The Geezer and Chief Gus Buster emerged from their chrysalides as beautiful butterflies.  Here is a video of them drying their wings.

It's that time of year again when we received 5 healthy, but very tiny, caterpillars through the post.  The children named them Volt, Astra Moon, Dan Fireball, Chief Gus Buster and The Geezer.  In case you are wondering that these are a strange choice of names, they are all characters from author Tommy Donbavand's Space Hopper series.  The children loved reading these books and thought those 5 names would be perfect.  We have watched the caterpillars grow over the last few weeks and have had great fun learning about FRASS!  We looked at their exoskeleton that they shed before they become chrysalides.  We are now waiting for the MIRACLE OF METAMORPHOSIS to happen.

Today, Mrs Carlile carefully removed the paper with the 5 chrysalides on and placed them into the butterfly tent which was all ready for them.  We had been waiting for Volt to become a chrysalide as he was the last one to change.  The Geezer was the first and we expect to see him very soon (wearing his comfy slippers and grey cardigan!).

HOLIDAYS
I'm so excited.  Mrs Carlile has just told me that I am going with her and Mr Carlile to Dorset this year for my holidays.  We are going to the Jurassic Coast where I might see some fossils of my ancestors!  How cool would that be.  We are really going to see the youngest Miss. Carlile who is spending the summer there before her final year at University but it is a beautiful part of the country to visit.  Bertie is coming too and I am hoping for lots more sunshine than we are getting here at the moment!
