BEHAVIOUR AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PRIMARY SCHOOL

'Love One Another' is our mission statement and this, along with the Gospel Values and the teachings of Jesus, is at the centre of everything we do, especially behaviour in school.

At St John’s we believe it is important to model good behaviour and manage behaviour in order to provide a calm, orderly, safe and supportive environment in which children want to attend, learn and thrive. More importantly, we believe children should be taught directly how to behave. We achieve this though the PSHE Scheme, RE Scheme, British Values Statement and our bespoke behaviour curriculum.

Our behaviour curriculum has a 'bee' theme. Imagery diplayed around the school provides a visible reminder of our expectations.

We operate a fair and consistent approach to rewards and sanctions across the school.

Behaviour is dealt with swiftly; rewards and sanctions are given in accordance with the behaviour policy.

We need the trust and support of children and parents if excellent behaviour is going to be achieved across the school and we want our children to be accepting of sanctions and learn from their mistakes. Every behaviour incident will be dealt with individually and will take into account the age, severity and needs of the child. When a sanction is given we will make a professional judgment as to whether parents need contacting.
