St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

Awards

Monday 8th February

Good morning Year 2, I hope you are all well and have had a lovely weekend!

Here we are in our final week before half term! You have done such a super job with your home-schooling this half term and I am very proud of you all. The effort you have put in to complete your tasks has been excellent and the quality of work both Mrs McKeating and I have received has been marvellous! Keep it up and keep smiling heart

Below are your lessons for today. Remember to email your work to Year2_Home@st-john.lancs.sch.uk or put it on our school blog.

Every day, please find time to log onto www.getepic.com/students using our class code (that was texted to you and it's on our school blog) and click on your initials, to access the books that I am assigning for you to read. I will add more books each week. They can be found in your mailbox! If you have read your assigned books, please feel free to read any of the other age-related books available on the website too. This website is what our school is using to monitor your reading at home, please make sure that you are reading regularly.

Maths

L.O. Interpret pictograms.

Please watch the learn screen below.

Then, I would like you to answer the questions from the worksheets in your red book. Please ONLY write the answers to the worksheets, you DO NOT need to copy out the questions. If you wish to print them, that is also fine.

English

L.O. To answer questions from a text.

In your home learning pack, please find your CGP KS1 Comprehension Book. Please could you read the comprehensions on page 10 and page 11 and answer the questions.

For the second part of this lesson, please log onto the getepic website and read one of the books that I have assigned you. laugh As a class, so far we have read 661 books this half term!!! Lots of you have outstanding reading times on your account! Let's see if we can achieve the 700 book target this week!

RE

L.O. To explore different ways to say thank you.

We are going to start our new topic 'Thanksgiving' today. First, I would like you to answer the 2 questions from the checking in document below in your book. Remember, at the start of a new topic, we just want to see what you already know! Try and answer the questions to the best that you can without asking an adult, it's ok if you're not sure about them because in a few weeks when we answer the questions again, we should be able to see that you have learnt lots more!

Task 2

Please read the short story below about Mrs Hall.

Here are some key questions to think about after you have read the story. You don't need to write down the answers.

  • Why was Mrs. Hall thanked?
  • How did different people say thank you to her?
  • How do you think Mrs. Hall felt?
  • Which way would you choose to say thank you?

Task 3

It is very important to say thank you and there are lots of ways to show it and mean it.

I would like you to make a poster to show ways people give thanks under the headings 'Signs', 'Words', 'Celebrations' and 'Actions'. Try to come up with different examples for each.

For example:

Signs- blowing kisses, smiling, holding your heart...

Words- I am grateful for you, Thank you so much...

Celebrations- a party, a mass...

Actions- making a card, buying flowers...

Have fun and remember to be thankful for your family and friends. I wonder if you could show some appreciation for someone you love today laugh Below is a thank you song for you to listen to and enjoy.

Have a lovely day!

Love, Miss Dewhurst x
