Nursery Provision at St Johns

St John the Baptist School offers Nursery and Pre-School Provision to children from their 3rd birthday until the start of the summer holidays prior to Reception class.

What we offer:

  • Provision for Rising 3s (this is from 3rd birthday until the start of the term after their birthday). These hours can be self funded or funded using the Early Start 2yr old fund if parents qualify.

  • Pre school children (term after 3rd birthday until school age) are offered free places from 15 hours up to 30 hours per week. All children receive 15 hrs free from Government funding. Additional hours can be self-funded or paid for with a 30 hrs Working Parents code.

How to Apply for a Place at Nursery

You can fill in an initial application form at the school office for your child from any age 0-3 years. You will need suppporting documents such as:

  • your child's birth certificate
  • their baptism certificate ( if they have been baptised)
  • a utility bill as proof of address and your own ID

Applications will be looked at in the term prior to children being due to start and admissions granted according to the admissions criteria for Nursery.

Admissions Criteria:

1. Looked after or previously looked after children.

2. Baptised children.

3. All other children

  • All places will be prioritised according to distance from school if necessary
  • We accept children as Rising 3s from their 3rd birthday or Pre-schoolers from the term after that. We will contact all parents who have applied for a place.
  • Once a place is confirmed, you will be invited to collect an admissions pack and be given details of our induction procedures.

Wrap Around Care:

If you require longer hours than Nursery offers, we have an onsite Breakfast and After School Club run by Mrs Vicky Simpson and her Brightsparks Team solely for St John's children. Nursery children who attend are collected from class after school and brought into class by the staff each morning.

Stay and Play sessions:

We also have a free Weekly Stay & Play Session for toddlers and their carers or Grandparents.

This is every Tuesday morning from 9am - 10.15am.

Toddlers can come along and enjoy a variety of activities, messy play songs and outdoor provision.

We have snack and milk and sing and rhymes at the end of the session.
