St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

Awards

Wednesday 13th January

Good morning Year 2, I hope you are all ok!

I am so pleased with your fabulous Maths and beautiful writing in English. Your character descriptions yesterday were brilliant and ever so creative with exciting adjectives. Please keep on working hard and trying your best. laugh

Remember to log onto www.getepic.com/students using our class code (that was texted to you and it's on our school blog) and click on your initials, to access the 2 books that I have assigned for you to read this week. If you have read them, please feel free to read any of the other age-related books available on the website too. This website is what our school is using to monitor your reading at home, please make sure that you are reading regularly.

Below are your lessons for today. Remember to email your work to Year2_Home@st-john.lancs.sch.uk or put it on our school blog.

Maths

L.O. 2 times tables

Please watch the learn screen below.

Then, I would like you to answer the questions from the worksheets in your red maths book. Please ONLY write the answers to the worksheets, you DO NOT need to copy out the questions. If you wish to print them, that is also fine.

English

L.O. To hot seat a character.

Please listen to the video below where I will read you the fourth chapter of the book.

Then please put the date and L.O. into your lined book. Today I would like you to hot seat Plop, this means pretend that you are Plop. In your book, I would like you to write 5 open questions for you to ask the character Plop, then answer them in full sentences under each one pretending to be him.

Open questions are questions that somebody can’t just answer with yes or no, they usually start with where, who, why, what and how so that somebody can explain their answer in more detail.

For example:

Where do you live?

I live in a very comfy nest made of soft feathers and sticks, in the tree hollow of an enormous oak tree.

What is your favourite meal and why?

My favourite meal is a plump, green frog because it is so slippery that I can easily swallow it whole.

Music

L.O. To recall instruments of the orchestra.

Mrs Jones has organised your music tasks for this half term. Please read through her power point below and complete the tasks that she has put in it.

The music link for task 1 is underneath the power point.

Have a great day!

Love, Miss Dewhurst x
