GREAT OUTDOORS WEEK

An action packed week filled with so much fun!

 OUTDOOR ELEMENTS DAY

We absolutely loved our day with the Outdoor Elements Team. We spent the morning developing our survival skills and working together on problem solving activities. In the afternoon, despite the poor weather conditions, we had a fabulous archery session on the field.

OUTDOOR MATHS

In Year 5 we had great fun looking for angles in the school yard. We can identify them, name them and estimate the angles degrees.

Children in Need

The theme of this year's Children in Need was 'Superheroes'. In class we thought about the qualities of an ordinary hero and learned how important these people are in our everyday lives.

The theme of our assembly was creativity and change. We really enjoyed performing in front of such a brilliant audience. Our favourite part was our Workhouse Dance!

Here is the powerpoint from our assembly. It has lots of interesting facts and will also help to remind you of the assembly's main message.

'Love and respect God's world.'

In Science this half term we are looking at materials and their properties. This week we have been making solutions and investigating solids that dissolve in liquids. We observed and recorded the changes that occurred when we mixed different combinations.

Balloon Challenge

This week in the Year 5 Science Lab we have been looking at chemical reactions. We learned how the chemical reaction that takes place when we combine Bicarbonate of Soda with Vinegar, creates a gas. The challenge was to use this gas to inflate our balloons. Take a look how we got on.

BIKEABILITY........

During Level 1 Bikeability training, the children will learn to control and master their bikes. The training takes place in an environment away from cars or traffic – usually in a playground.

During Level 2 Bikeability training, the children will get out on the roads! Level 2 gives them a real cycling experience so that they are able to deal with traffic on short journeys such as cycling to school.
