Thursday 11th February

Good morning Year 6!

Today we welcome back to school the Year 6 children of key workers. Children at home remember to log on to our Teams Meeting at 9.10am. We received lots of super work on the blog and through email yesterday. You are trying so hard and we are very proud of you. Keep working hard; there's only one more get-up before our half-term break. And Friday is the start of Chinese New Year so we will have some fun activities related to that on our timetable. Let's find out what our work is today...

PE

Today's exercise choices:

1. Go outside for a refreshing walk.

2. Click on the link to Go Noodle and complete 3 of your favourite routines.

3. Have a go at the Bingo Challenge Mr Steele has put on the main Class Page - this looks fun!

READING

EXCELLENT work everybody who logged in to getepic yesterday and especially to Giuseppe, Theo T and Miley who were our top readers!  Aim for 10 - 15 minutes of reading each day and our total will grow day by day. Fingers crossed we will reach our 300 books target by Friday!!

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 11-2-21 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

Today we have two tasks. Firstly, practice using the apostrophe of omission. For example can not becomes can't. Your second task is to edit and improve your space poem from Tuesday. If you uploaded it and can't find it, use my example on the slides to edit and improve. Read the information and instructions on the slides below to find out exactly what to do.

Maths Topic- Integers and Decimals

L.O Strategies for Addition.

In today’s lesson you have a couple of Magic Squares to warm up your brain. This will help with your mental addition skills. The main part of the lesson is looking at different ways of adding numbers. We all know how to use the column method, but sometimes it might be easier to use another strategy. You will learn what other strategies you could use.

1.Using facts, you already know. If you know 4+3=7 then you know 40 + 30 = 70
2.Rounding and adjusting. 7999 + 1293 Add on 8000 and then take one off. 9293-1= 9292
3.Partitioning 1 number using a number line.
4.Partitioning 2 numbers using a number line.

Get your book and pen ready. Your teacher is Mrs Harris again, and she will guide you through your lesson.

I have also attached the questions on a slide show.

Click on the link below to open your lesson and let me know how you did on the BLOG or EMAIL. What did you score on the quiz?
