Birds of Prey Visit

On Tuesday 11th February, Year 1 and Year 2 were very lucky to have a visit from SMJ Falconry! We met JD the barn owl, Midge the white-faced owl, Jeff the falcon and Pippin the kestrel. We were absolutely amazed by these birds of prey and learnt so many facts about them! We were shown bones from the carcass' of the animals the birds had eaten, stroked the feathers of the birds and looked at the regurgitated pellets that the birds cough up after they have eaten. We even witnessed JD the barn owl fly across the classroom and eat some chicken! The children and staff were in awe for the entire hour and asked some brilliant questions!
