St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

Awards

Friday 5th March

Good morning Year 5. Well here we are…the last day of home learning! I cannot express how proud I am of you for working so hard at home. I have received some excellent work and have loved all your emails and blog posts. You have kept me entertained on our TEAMS meetings and I have enjoyed all our games and quizzes. I can’t wait to see you all on Monday and to be back together as a class. We will have a wonderful rest of the term and I cannot wait to start some new learning…especially our new class book!

As explained on our TEAMS meetings this week, please bring your books back into school. Especially your CGP Comprehension Book.

Here are your lessons for today. Please make sure you email or blog your work.

English
Reading comprehension and spellings

There are 2 parts to your English lesson today and you need to complete them both.

  1. Please get your CGP Comprehension Book, turn to page 14 and read the text called ‘Pompeii’. Then answer the questions on page 15. Take your time and use evidence from the text in your answers.
  2. Log on to Education City and find your spelling lesson – ‘Spellings 5/3/21.’ The spellings this week are words that end in ‘able or ible’ like last week. Please complete the activity and the worksheet. If you cannot print the worksheet out, you don’t need to write out all of the sentences. Just write the correct words!

Maths
Mental Arithmetic

For Maths today I would like you to complete the mental arithmetic test below. Take your time and think about each question carefully. Mark your work when you have finished and let me know your score.

If you finish and would like to continue, you can play on TTRS or Education City Play Live.

History
LO – To find out about daily life in Ancient Greece.

Today you are going to carry out some research on daily life in Ancient Greece. Read the fact sheet below which will give you a basic idea.

Using the fact sheet and other websites or books, I would like you to create a fact file to describe life in Ancient Greece. You can decide how to set out your work. You could:

  • Write the facts in your book
  • Create an informative poster with pictures and information
  • Create a PowerPoint.

Make sure you include as much information as you can. I can’t wait to see your work!
