LO: To research deforestation.
Well Year 3, a little surprise today! You need to follow the link below to Year 3’s section of the Videos section of our website. There you will find a video of me reading a story called ‘The Vanishing Rainforest’.
This is a story about how the rainforest is at threat because of something called deforestation.
Deforestation is when people cut down and destroy the forests for various reasons. These reasons can be: to use the land for farming or to use the trees for wood. Watch the videos below to learn more about deforestation.
You are going to use the internet today to do some research into deforestation. I would like you to present your information on a poster. You can either use the computer and email it to me, or write it out in your workbooks.
Here are some questions that I want you to research and answer on your poster:
-
Why do people cut down the trees in the rainforest?
-
What impact is this having on our planet?
-
Who is being effected by the rainforest being destroyed? (think about the story I read too)
Enjoy doing your research, you can include pictures on your poster, but remember I want lots of writing and information for me to read.
What is Deforestation?
This entertaining news report looks at what deforestation does to our planet.

French:
Bonjour! This week we are setting you a little challenge! Your task is to find out about the currency (money) used in several French speaking countries around the world. The power point has a table to complete, then you need to draw the coins and notes from three of the countries on slide 2. The challenge question is on slide 3 - we would like to see which class has the most children posting a comment on Mrs Miskell's blog post!
Remember, Miss Townson is looking at blog posts to decide who will be her blogger of the week!
I look forward to seeing your work!
