A Happy Thursday to you all.

Well done yesterday for all your hard work. It is SO important to keep up with your learning and to keep your brains active. I have ordered new reading books for you - they look REALLY great. I will be asking you for reviews of your reading books next week so make sure you have your Reading Diaries up-to-date. You took some fabulous books home so I shall look forward to reading your reviews. Now, let's see what today's tasks are...

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 14-5-20 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

ENGLISH

LO: To recognise different sentence types

Recall your learning yesterday about the different types of sentences: statement, command, question and exclamation. Read your definitions and examples of these sentence types or you could click the link from yesterday, dust off your air guitars and rock along to the song!

Statement: tells us something we didn’t know.

Command: doesn’t give us a choice.

Question: needs to have an answer.

Exclamation: begins with how or what.

Then click on the document below with questions about this learning. You can print this document out and answer the questions, write the answers in your exercise book or type them in a word document and attach them to the blog or email them to me.

LO: To use descriptive language

Click on the document below this text and read the information carefully about some key inventions in history. This document is very bright and colourful and full of fabulous facts - you will enjoy reading it.

Then write today’s date and LO in your exercise book or on a word document.

Choose and then write down as a title, the invention you think is the MOST important. Write a description of your chosen invention, which should be one paragraph long. Then, start a new paragraph to explain why you think it is the MOST important invention. This should also be one paragraph long. Attach this work to the blog or email it to me. I wonder if we will all agree on the most important invention? I will let you know!
SCIENCE

L.O When an object is submerged in water, the water provides an upward force (upthrust) on it. This allows things to float.

Go to the SCIENCE FOLDER on the Y6 CLASS PAGE. Read through the slides and then do the activity. I want you to make a boat that floats. On the BLOG write me a paragraph explaining how you got your boat to float. Send a picture if you can.
