St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

Awards

Thursday 21st January

Good morning Year 2, I hope you are all ok and having a good week!

You are doing a marvellous job with your times table work in Maths and I am enjoying reading all your writing tasks about our book 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark'! Please keep on working hard and sending in your work!laugh

Below are your lessons for today. Remember to email your work to Year2_Home@st-john.lancs.sch.uk or put it on our school blog.

Everyday, please find time to log onto www.getepic.com/students using our class code (that was texted to you and it's on our school blog) and click on your initials, to access the books that I am assigning for you to read. I will add more books each week. They can be found in your mailbox! If you have read your assigned books, please feel free to read any of the other age-related books available on the website too. This website is what our school is using to monitor your reading at home, please make sure that you are reading regularly.

Maths

L.O. Divide by 10.

Please watch the learn screen below.

Then, I would like you to answer the questions from the worksheets. Please ONLY write the answers to the worksheets, you DO NOT need to copy out the questions. If you wish to print them, that is also fine.

English
L.O. To show understanding of a text.

Please listen to the video on the school videos section of our website (Under Children, School Videos, Videos for Year 2 2020-2021) where I will read you the final chapter of the book- Dark is Beautiful. (I have also uploaded all of the other chapters onto the video area too, so they can be found in one place) smiley

Then, I would like you to open the document below which asks you to match up the characters to the chapters, drawing and colours pictures of each, using the word bank at the bottom to help you. You can print off the document and complete it or you can do this in your plain book, splitting 2 pages into 4 sections and labelling each.

Once you have done this, I would like you to write a paragraph in your lined book explaining your 8th box- how would you describe the dark and why? Try to give more than one reason for your choice.

Science

L.O. To describe the basic needs of humans and other animals.

Please read the power point below which explains the basic needs that humans and animals need to survive. There is also a little quiz at the end! smiley

Once you have read the power point, I would like you to make me an informative poster. In your yellow book, please draw a line down the middle of a page (landscape), then on one half describe the basic needs of mammals, reptiles and birds and on the other side, fish and other sea creatures. You can use the facts and pictures from the document below to help you with the information for your poster. Think about which facts belong where smiley

Have a great day!

Love, Miss Dewhurst x
