Friday 8th January

Good morning Year 6!

It's Friday and the end of the first week of school in the year 2021. The weather forecast is suggesting snow today which reminds me of 3 poems we studied just before Christmas. Can you remember them? I wonder if you will go out and catch snowflakes on your tongue?! I hope you have a great day and finish the week with a super day of learning.

PE

Don't forget to exercise each day by going for a refreshing walk outside or by logging in to Joe Wicks which starts next week on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Or you could even log in to Go Noodle and have a go at the exciting dance routines there.

READING

Reading is also MASSIVELY important for children so continue to read your school book or a children's book from home. Or you could read BBC Newsround online where there are lots of excellent news articles. Aim for 10 - 15 minutes of reading every day. Note your comments down in your reading diary.

Good luck with all your learning! Let's get going with today's 3 activities...

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 8-1-21 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

MATHS

L.O ARITHMETIC

YIPPEE! It’s Friday. Every Friday we will be doing an Arithmetic test. They are the same Arithmetic tests that we did for homework at the start of Year 6. Click on the PDF document below and your questions will appear. It’s Spring Test 1.

Before you start your work, I would like you to click on the link to Y6 video page. You will see a video called 8-1-21 Arithmetic. I have talked through each question to remind you how to do them. Please watch it as it will help you.

Do your working out and answers in your Maths Book and then get someone to mark it for you or mark it yourself. BLOG me your score out of 40 please.

Please don’t open the answers until you have done the work.

TASK B – EVERYBODY SHOULD DO THIS

I’ve  set up a battle on Times Table Rock Stars. Boys against Girls. It will only last for 1 day and opens at 9.00am so make sure you don’t miss it.

LO: To consider different skills and different jobs

Today we are going to start a unit of work concerning jobs and money. These, as you well know, are VERY important topics. You are going to follow a lesson by Mr Bailey at the Oak Academy. He looks quite serious to begin with and he has a big bushy grey beard. But he is really quite funny and interesting and I am positive he speaks with an accent which is local to us.

Before you click on the link below, you need your pen and exercise book as he will set you 3 tasks. Pause the clip to answer. Make sure you write down the answers and blog or email your work to me in the usual way. After you have watched the clip, there is a quiz to take at the end of the lesson. Enjoy!
