Good morning Year 6!
Well done on yesterday's work all those that blogged and emailed. We really enjoyed comparing Chile to the UK on the Oak Academy website and we had some super posters. What learning have you got today? Well try and log on to the CBBC Channel at 10.05am because the Celebrity Supply Teacher is Tim Peake!! I cannot wait! Come on, get your books and pens out and let's get going...
PE
Today's exercise choices:
1. Go outside for a refreshing walk. (Will there be more snow today?)
2. Click on the link to Go Noodle and complete 3 of your favourite routines.
(We completed Boom Chikka Boom and Fresh Start in school).
3. Have a go at the Bingo Challenge Mr Steele has put on the main Class Page - this looks fun!
READING
AMAZING NEWS!! Year 6 have jumped from 111 books yesterday to 124 books today! Our three fantastic readers for Monday are Miley, Giuseppe and Dylan! Well done also to Theo B, Gracie, Georgie and Annalise.
A few Year 6 pupils have still not logged on to the getepic website. Look on our Year 6 blog for a post I put on 8.1.21. It tells you how to get on this website and what your log in is. Click on your initials and start reading a book of your choice. Aim for 10 - 15 minutes of reading each day.
I want to see everybody logged on to this website.
Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 2-2-21 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.
MATHS
LO: To translate shapes accurately
We are going to continue our translation work today. It seems easy but when you have a go, it's quite tricky. Just remember that you have to SLIDE a shape either up/down or left/right. Follow the instructions and slide EACH vertex (corner) of the shape. Then use a ruler to connect your translated vertices.
Today we are going to listen to the teacher from White Rose Maths explain translation. When you have finished watching and listening carefully, complete the worksheet. I have added the ANSWERS to this sheet so you can check to see how you did.
If you are finding it really difficult, try the easier one.
If you want a challenge try the hard one.
Blog or email your work in the normal way.
Enjoy!
ENGLISH
LO: To use the possessive apostrophe
LO: To write a free verse poem
Today there are 2 tasks in English. Read the information and instructions on the slides below in order to complete today's lesson successfully. Don't panic about the poem - it is straightforward.
FRENCH
LO: To say where you live and which language you speak
For French this week we are going to look at the next Oak Academy lesson, which will build on your skills from last week and add in new phrases to be able to say where you live and which language you speak.
Watch the video (click on the link below to access the lesson) and complete all the tasks the teacher asks you to do throughout the lesson. Once the lesson has finished, we would like you to translate the sentences on the word document below. All the vocabulary you need will have been on the Oak Academy lesson.
There is also a short powerpoint below as a reminder of all the verb endings for ER verbs - please use this to help you complete the sentence translations.
Blog or email your work as normal.
