At St John's we regard the safeguarding of our children as our main priority.
At St John's we will ensure that:
We are proud to be part of Operation Encompass which is an organisation that confidentially connects the police with schools.
When police attend an incident of Domestic Abuse they will inform schools to ensure rapid support for children living with domestic abuse.
This works supports pupils in being safeguarded against the short-medium and
long-term effects of domestic abuse.

There are three main elements to our Safeguarding (Child Protection) Policy
PREVENTION
Creating a positive atmosphere in our school. Providing teaching and pastoral support to children, where those children have the opportunity to have a voice and where their wishes and feelings ate listened to and acted upon
PROTECTION
Staff follow agreed procedures and are trained to recognise possible signs and symptoms of abuse. Staff are also trained and supported to respond in an appropriate and sensitive manner to Safeguarding issues
SUPPORT
For children who may have been abused.
