St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

At St John's we regard the safeguarding of our children as our main priority.

At St John's we will ensure that:

  • The welfare of the child is paramount
  • All children, whatever their age, culture, gender, disability, language, racial origin, religious beliefs and/ or sexual identity, have the right to be protected from harm
  • All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and dealt with promptly and appropriately.
  • All staff and volunteers at our school have a responsibility to report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead Mrs Angela Clough or the Deputy Safeguarding Lead Mrs McKeating

We are proud to be part of Operation Encompass which is an organisation that confidentially  connects the police with schools.

When police attend an incident of Domestic Abuse they will inform schools to ensure rapid support for children living with domestic abuse.

This works supports pupils in being safeguarded against the short-medium and

long-term effects of domestic abuse.

Creating a positive atmosphere in our school. Providing teaching and pastoral support to children, where those children have the opportunity to have a voice and where their wishes and feelings ate listened to and acted upon

Staff follow agreed procedures and are trained to recognise possible signs and symptoms of abuse. Staff are also trained and supported to respond in an appropriate and sensitive manner to Safeguarding issues

For children who may have been abused.
