Mrs McKeating's Trip to Nairobi

On the 23rd May 2017 Mrs McKeating will be travelling to Nairobi in Kenya to support two primary schools and an orphanage. The team comprises of two Head teachers, an educational psychologist and two students. Our main aim is to support children with additional needs, assess and put programmes of work in place to support their learning. Our team has now raised £3200 which is funding some fabulous resources that we will be taking to the children. St John’s school has provided around a third of this money and I am so grateful to you for your wonderful generosity. Holy Saviour’s school in Nelson has also matched our fundraising and we have had two donations of £500 from a close friend and from the Knights of St Columba. Due to your generosity I am not asking for any further donations however the children keep asking me what I need for my suitcase. We have nearly bought everything that we need to take however we still are looking to purchase reading glasses and sunglasses. Any donations of either adult reading glasses or children’s UV sunglasses would be most gratefully received. Yesterday we received some information on the children’s needs in the large mainstream school. We were very surprised to find out how many children have unsupported eye problems which are caused due to over exposure to sunlight. We have now ordered lots of magnifiers to support the children and this is why we are looking to provide them with UV Sunglasses.

The Beginning of Mama Margaret Project and the birth of Mission Possible

Resources are being delivered on a daily basis!

The Staff and Children in Dagoretti had great fun with all the resources MISSION POSSIBLE took for them, especially the balloons. The children were so eager to learn and loved their new sunglasses!
