Friday 12th June

Happy Friday everybody!

This week has been fabulous for Year 6! Yesterday you continued the excellent work in Maths, English and Science. We love receiving your work through the blog and e-mail, and appreciate it when you say good morning to us and send other lovely messages. Thank you. Chelsea was the one who blew my socks of yesterday with her writing which was full of agonising tension. Who will create some outstanding work today? Let's have a look at your tasks...

Below are your tasks for today. Remember if you need to ask any questions go to the class blog and add a comment to 12-6-20 TODAY'S WORK. Keep checking the comments on this BLOG because that is where we will post our replies to you.

MATHS

L.O ARITHMETIC

As you know by now Friday is Arithmetic day. It’s important that you keep your arithmetic skill as good as they were in school. Looking at the scores you are sending me, many of you are doing a BRILLIANT job.

For the Summer Term we are now using different Arithmetic Tests. I know these are a little easier than the pervious ones, but they are Y6 standard. For all you amazing mathematicians who like a challenge I’ve added 10 extra advanced questions this week. I want you all to do Test 2 and if you fancy a challenge you can do the 10 extra questions.

Do your working out and answers in your Maths Book and then get someone to mark it for you. BLOG me your score out of 30 please.

The answers are on a separate document. Only look at them after you have finished your work.

ENGLISH

LO: To create tension in writing

Today, you are going to bring all your learning over the past 2 weeks together to write the story of Francis Brandywine. Judging by your magnificent efforts this week, your writing is going to be EPIC! Go to the English folder on the Year 6 website page to find information and instructions in order to complete this task. There is even a special introduction to your writing from our English Co-ordinator, Miss Hartley, to get you in the mood for fabulous writing! My socks are twitching already!!

COMPUTING

LO: To recall e-safey rules

Today, for computing, we are going to continue with our very important e-safey work on Education City. Here’s what to do:

  1. Log in to Education City and work through the slides on the first unit which is called Internet Etiquette.
  2. Answer the quiz questions in the next Internet Etiquette Unit.
  3. Next, read the interesting information in the Digital Footprint Unit.
  4. After that, you need to click on the word document below which tells you how to complete a record of your own ‘digital footprint’ for THIS week (Monday 8th June – Friday 12th June). Type on this document or copy it into your exercise book to complete it. Are you happy with your digital footprint? Do you need to change any of your online behaviour?
  5. Attach this work to the blog or email it to me. I will see your Internet Etiquette quiz scores from my own Education City account.
