 MATHS- L.0 Investigating Odd Numbers

Today you are going to learn about adding consecutive odd numbers. Go to the MATHS FOLDER on the Y6 CLASS PAGE and you will see a link to a video. Watch the video. Once you have watched the video look at the slides underneath. These slides will explain your task in more detail and show you how to set it out. Please do the work in your maths book and BLOG or Email a picture if you can.

ENGLISH

LO: To use the colon, semicolon and dash

Log on to Education City and complete the punctuation activity called: Jungle Dash.

Remember a colon, semi-colon and dash can be used to mark the boundary between two clauses. For example:

London is a capital city: Burnley is a town.

Grasshoppers have 6 legs; spiders have 8 legs.

We need to clean the house today – grandma is visiting.

LO: To use descriptive vocabulary

Go to the Year 6 website page and open the English Folder underneath the date folders. Use the information and instructions there, to write a 5 line poem about what AD900 Baghdad might have looked like using the model of Kit Wright’s poem called ‘The Magic Box’. Write it in your red exercise book or on a word document and attach it to today’s blog or email it to me.

The answers from Monday’s work are there and your history medicine work answers are in the history folder.

DIGITAL ART

LO: To search images

Over the next four weeks your task is to create a piece of digital art using the Arabian desert landscape as your inspiration.

Go to the Art folder on the Year 6 website page to find the information and instructions you need in order to complete today’s lesson. You will learn about the artist David Hockney and his style that we are copying.

FRENCH (Additional activity from Miss Miskell)

LO: To be able to describe a famous monument in Paris

Welcome back Year 6! This half term we are going to be looking at French culture. This week we would like you to complete a research task about famous French monuments. All the information you need is on the power-point slide saved in the French folder underneath the date folders on the Year 6 website page. Let’s see who can find the most bizarre facts about these monuments!

As always I will put a blog post on for you to reply to with your work or you can email it to Mrs Jones and she will forward it to me.
