St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Primary School Love One Another

St John the Baptist School Curriculum 2023-2024

Jesus said,

'Love One Another'

These are the words that we proudly wear on our jumpers. Our strong Catholic ethos permeates through all aspects of school life, providing the children with a safe, calm and nurturing environment rooted in the Gospel values where the children are loved and learn to love.

ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CURRICULUM INTENT

St John’s Curriculum is rooted in the Gospel values with Jesus at the centre of all that we do. Learning extends beyond the classroom walls and the development of an active healthy lifestyle is actively encouraged.

Whilst our subjects are taught discretely. Cross curricular opportunities are utilised to bring excitement and meaning to the curriculum.

Positive behaviour is directly taught and modelled to encourage and  inspire children to be kind, loving and responsible citizens.

The children are at the heart of our curriculum.  We endeavour to discover and nurture each child’s unique talents and bring awe and wonder to their learning experiences.  We endeavour to support all pupils in reaching their true potential and ensure they reach their true potential and build  aspirations for their future.

At St John's we provide our children with a broad and balanced curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society. It prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Our schemes of work fulfil the requirements of the 'National Curriculum' in Key Stages 1 & 2 and 'The Stautory Framework for Early Years and the Foundation Stage'. Our curriculum also reflects requirements for inclusion and equality as set out in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 2014 and Equality Act 2010, and refers to curriculum-related expectations of governing boards set out in the Department for Education’s Governance Handbook.
