Welcome To Our Nursery Class

St John's Nursery Class 2025-26

In our Nursery there are two teachers:

Mrs Barker and Mrs Dowson 

and our Teaching & Learning Assistants

Miss Barnes & Mrs Bleasdale

 

 

 

 

We also welcome students from local colleges on work placements.  We currently have Miss Taylor from Burnley College every Thursday and Friday. 

 

· The Nursery starts each day at 8.45am. If your child requires morning only sessions (15hrs a week) they should be collected between11.30 and 11.45am. 

 

· The morning session ends at 11.45am (our doors open at 11.30) when those children who stay all day (30hrs) have their Packed Lunches (11.45am-12.15pm) which they bring from home before continuing the day with the afternoon session.

 

· The Nursery closes each day at 3.15pm. Our doors open from 3.00pm and all children should be collected by 3.15pm

 

· All Nursery Children receive free milk and a fruit snack each morning and have access to indoor and outdoor provision throughout each session. 

 

· We have access to the school grounds and facilities and also join the rest of the school for important occasions and celebrations and for school masses in church. 

 

· All Nursery sessions are Teacher-led.

 

Every child will be allocated a Key Worker who will make sure they are always settled, happy and learning. Parents & Carers will be able to contact the Key Worker by email and at morning and afternoon door openings in person.

DIARY DATE- Christmas Nativity Performed by Reception & Nursery Children on Wednesday 10th December at 9.30am in the hall. All welcome. £3 on the door.

Our Autumn Term Class

November 2025: Mark Making with a range of tools : pencils, wipboards, felt tips, crayons, chalks. We have mark making available every day in many ways both indoors and outdoors.

November 2025: Maths skills with repeating patterns. We use a variety of resources to practice the concept. After making the patterns one of our group used his cubes to make all the Numberblocks family. His counting was accurate and each tower replicated each character! He thought he was playing but we were delighted with his counting skills!,

November 2025: Creativity and hand strengthening with play dough. We make play dough in class each week and involve the children in choosing the colour and what scent or flavouring we add. We also use herbs to give our senses a natural boost! Using the tools eg rolling pins, cutters, mincers is great for making small hands stronger.

November 2025: Biscuit making using poppy shapes and colours.

Happy Half Term Holiday to all our Nursery Children and their families. Thank you for all your support in this first half term.

October 2025: Disney Theme Week- Well done Everyone- You looked AMAZING!

October 2025: Playing and learning together.... Bouncing, riding, balancing, rolling, counting, building, creating and mark making

October 2025: Fun with pumpkins! Fine and gross motor skills and lots of turn taking

October 2025: Developing pincer skills with spider webs and tweezers

October 2025: Investigating and celebrating Autumn and all its beautiful colours!

October 2025: We added our links to the Special Anchor that has been visiting all schools in the Salford Diocese. We prayed our Nursery prayer for our own families and all the other "Pilgrims of Hope".

September 2025: God's wonderful creation- we searched the local area for things we thought were beautiful. There were so many things the children wanted to photograph. Aren't we lucky to have such a beautiful world to live in?

September 2025: We went to church to look around and try out where we will sit in school masses. Mrs Dowson was so proud of the children who went to church with her on Friday- they were so good 😊

September 2025: We went to the Secret Garden to explore The Trim Trail. This is where we will do our Forest School sessions next month

September 2025: We love painting! Painting hands, exploring textures and senses and having fun!

September 2025: Snack and milk are taken at tables so we can talk to each other and be safe

September 2025: Settling in.... meeting new friends, learning routines, looking around and becoming familiar with our new Nursery Family
