Our Year 5 children have had a fantastic time taking their learning outdoors during their three Forest School sessions.
Forest School has given the children the opportunity to explore the outdoors, learn new skills and enjoy working together in our natural environment. Each session has brought a new adventure, with lots of opportunities for teamwork, problem-solving, creativity and discovery.
During Session 1, the children developed their teamwork and communication skills through a range of challenges before putting their navigation skills to the test with orienteering. They worked brilliantly together, following clues and finding their way around the outdoor environment.
In Session 2, we became nature detectives! The children explored the Forest School area, identifying different leaves and trees and looking carefully at the natural world around them. They then thought about the wildlife that shares our outdoor spaces and had great fun creating bird feeders to help care for our local birds.
The children also worked together in teams to design and build their very own bug hotels. They collected natural materials from around the Forest School area and worked collaboratively to create cosy habitats for insects and other minibeasts. This was a fantastic opportunity to practise teamwork, communication and problem-solving, while learning how we can help to look after the wildlife living in our school environment.
Our Forest School sessions have been a wonderful opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, explore nature, work together, get a little muddy and, most importantly, have lots of fun!
