  • Padiham Greenway Park Run School League

Wed 04 Sep 2024 Mr Steele

    Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that the School League will be starting at the beginning of October.

We would love for St John's children to take part from the first week.

A reminder of how the league works: every child who attends Padiham Greenway junior parkrun on a Sunday in October will get a point for attending. Bonus points will be given to children who have never done a junior parkrun before or achieve a PB.

The organisers award a certificate to the winning primary school and winning secondary school. They will also award a trophy for the school that is the overall winner.

I have attached a picture with some information explaining how the park run works.

If you need any more information about the event, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mr Steele through the office.

    Kind regards

    Alun Lewis

  • Year 6 Leavers' Mass and Party

    Fri 12 Jul 2024

Yesterday we celebrated our wonderful Year 6 children. The evening started with our Leavers' Mass and ended with a party full of fun, fabulous dancing and delicious food. A massive thank you goes to the PTA for making it so special for the leavers. Also thanks to Mrs Edwards for the meat and potato pie, it was delicious as always. We also were lucky to have Fr Chris and Fr Samson at the mass, who were then joined by Fr Joseph and Fr Tony at the party. We hope they enjoy being part of the St John's family.

  • Year 3 Visit to Gawthorpe Hall

Fri 12 Jul 2024 Mr Steele

Year 3 had an amazing time at Gawthorpe Hall today for our Science lesson run by Primary Science Trust and the National Trust. The children meet Michele at the entrance of Gawthorpe Hall and she gave us an introduction. We then walked to the woodland area making notes about the similarities/differences between the environment and a rainforest environment. After this, we arrived at the woodland site and discussed the similarities and differences of the two habitats and learnt about what living things need in a habitat to survive. We also completed a food chain activity and made food chains. When in the wall garden we explored the plants and wildlife while on a nature colour hunt. Finally, the children planted sunflower seeds in pots to take home. To see all the photos go to Year 3's class page on the website.
